Holiday Prelude XXIX will be held at The Phoenician Resort on Friday, December 5, 2014. The annual event benefits Phoenix Art Museum League, Phoenix Theatre Guild and Phoenix Youth Symphony. Guests will enjoy boutique shopping, raffle prizes, holiday luncheon, and elegant fashion show. This year’s theme is Fashion Through the Ages, Then & Now featuring Fashion By Robert Black, a vintage boutique, along with contemporary designer, Galina Couture.
Sixty years ago, a few dedicated art lovers joined together to form Phoenix Art Musuem League, committed to the success of arts and culture in this young, upstart city centered among the soaring mountains of the Arizona desert. Today, that young upstart is one of the largest metropolises in the nation, home to the largest fine arts museum in the Southwest, and Phoenix Art Museum League is still here, still committed to that original mission.
Today, the League directly impacts both exhibitions and education programs at the Museum through annual events that not only give back, but give others a chance to make new friends, and be inspired. Our most popular event, Arts & Flowers, fills the galleries of the Museum with colorful, living interpretations of some of its most popular art work. You will never see any piece quite the same way again.
Whether you are a part of a long-standing tradition of Phoenix’s art community, or just beginning to develop an interest, begin your journey with the League. We can’t wait to meet you.
As Phoenix Art Museum’s oldest support organization, the Phoenix Art Museum League celebrates over 60 years of events that raise funds to maintain the Museum’s permanent art collection and support educational programs promoting interaction with communities within the Phoenix Metro area. To fulfill our mission, the League holds three major fundraising events during the year benefiting the Museum:
Holiday Prelude XXVlll Luncheon & Style Show: This collaborative event held at The Phoenician is sponsored by the Phoenix Art Museum League, Phoenix Theatre Guild and the Phoenix Youth Symphony. During its 27 year history, Prelude has annually hosted over 600 members and supporters to benefit all three organizations.
Arts & Flowers® — “flowers interpreting art”: For over 9 years, Arizona floral designers have filled the Museum galleries with creative floral arrangements that interpret art from collections throughout the Museum. Over 4,000 people visit the Museum for this floral extravaganza, featuring an opening luncheon, programs, workshops and ending with a League-hosted “It’s A Wrap” reception recognizing the prize-winning floral designers.
In 2011, the League was honored to receive the Arizona State Florists Association’s 2011 Public Awareness Award “for continually promoting the beauty and creativity of fresh flowers each year through the Arts & Flowers event”.
Women In Art: Bi-monthly event featuring noteworthy Arizona women in art with presentations and offsite tours.
A Celebrity Affair: Every year League members and guests enjoy great shopping, delicious food and award-winning speakers at this Halloween-themed event held at the Museum.
